If you are planning on getting a 3D ultrasound done, the best time to do it is before 33 weeks into your pregnancy. Most 3D ultrasound pictures turn out really good before the baby gets too big. The bigger the baby, the less of the baby parts will be on the image. The pictures above was done when the baby was about 33-34 weeks old. Notice how little the baby's body parts fits into the picture. the face basically covers up most of the picture as well as the arm covering the face.

You can search locally for 3D ultrasound imaging. Most packages will cost anywhere from a hundred to a few hundred or even thousands of dollars depending on the package that you choose. 3D ultrasound imaging is usually performed by private ultrasound specialists and not at a doctor's office.

"After we got back from our Florida trip, on November 28th we decided to get a 3D ultrasound done of our baby. We drove to a place that we had found online which was about an hour drive. It was close to my husband's mom's place so she was able to be there during the ultrasound. So for $150, we were all able to watch my baby move around on the big screen where the image showed. This session about 20-30 minutes. My baby was a little too big for this ultrasound so it was harder to see a bigger picture of her.

Most women have this 3D ultrasound done before 33 weeks so that you can have a better image. We were given a few pictures of her on 3D which had a profile view of her but her arm was covering her face. We also received a CD with small 3D video clips, and a VHS tape which had the whole session recorded. She really didn't do much during the procedure and it was hard to see her with her arm covering her head. I thought later on that this ultrasound may not have been a great idea since I was passed the gestational age that they normally have this done because I wasn't sure if it was worth $150. But then I thought at least now I have more pictures to show her when she gets older."
